Your Pet is not a Smart Speaker
Smart speakers can bring convenience into our lives. They can give us a weather report, a news flash, set reminders, and play music. I can even use mine to preheat my car’s interior to a specified temperature.
As technology evolves and brings convenience into our lives, I fear that our expectations of living beings may change. I wonder if having technology at our fingertips makes us more impatient? I wonder if it gives us unrealistic expectations?
Remember, your pet is not a smart speaker. Be patient when training your pet. When you ask your pet to do something, give them time to process your request. How long this processing takes and the accuracy of the response is a reflection of your training. Think of this as "user error" or "user success".
Keep in mind, technology is still inferior to the human brain. The human experience is messy, but growth and beauty emerge from the flaws.
Be compassionate with yourself and the living beings around you. As much as you think you'd like your pet to behave more like a robot, then you wouldn't have interesting stories to share at dinner parties. You and your pets are smarter than a smart speaker, so give everyone time to get the answer right.
