Winter Activity Inspo

Winter may have you wondering about new ways to entertain your dog that don’t include layering up until you can’t put your arms down. Here’s my field trip inspo to keep your dog busy while keeping you warm.

Challenge your dog’s basic manners skills at your local pet supply store. Can your dog walk with slack in the leash past tempting low-lying chews and toys? Or, will you have to add their eaten gains to your tab? Can your dog sit and wait while his fave snacks are being rung up? Can your dog greet the shop workers without jumping? Inquiring minds want to know!

Most ACE hardware stores are dog friendly. And, most dogs love collecting new sniffs at these hardware stores. Take a leisurely stroll through the aisles. Ask your dog for a “sit stay” while you walk away to snap a picture. Practice polite greetings with the dog-enthusiastic staff.

Spending more time with friends and family may have you longing for a bit of a break. Treat your dog and yourself to drive through! Grab a coffee for yourself and a puppuccino for your furry friend. Share french fries and chicken nuggets whenever dog is your copilot.

When you return, give your dog a long-lasting chew while you post pix from your field trip! Believe it or not, all of the above can be done in about an hour — depending on traffic and parking. Taking your dog on a field trip can be just enough mental stimulation to gain you a cozy night in with a tired dog.
