Making RTO Work for You and Your Dog
Returning to the office (RTO) can be a challenging transition, especially if you have to leave your furry best friend at home. Here are some creative and practical tips to help you and your pup adjust during this turbulent time:
1. Understand RTO Core Hours and Flexibility: First things first, talk to your employer about your RTO schedule. Understanding your core hours and any flexibility can help you plan better for your dog’s needs. If you can slide your commute to avoid traffic, you can get home to your dog sooner!
2. Enlist Help from Neighbors and Friends: If you have neighbors or friends working from home, see if they can spend some time with your dog. This can ease your dog’s loneliness and give you peace of mind.
3. Schedule Daycare Days Strategically: Consider booking non-consecutive daycare days. Your dog will likely be tired the day after daycare, so give them a rest day between day care days. Alternating activity days can make the transition less abrupt.
4. Book Dog Walks: Hiring a dog walker can be a great way to break up your dog's day while you're at work. Please be patient and flexible as many dog walkers may be scheduling more dog walks.
5. Manage Separation Anxiety: If your dog struggles with separation anxiety, start by reaching out to a separation anxiety pro like Behavior United. Behavior United is offering $75 off their separation anxiety training package now through the end of February. In the meantime, consider using calming products recommended by your dog's veterinarian, interactive toys, plus WFH friends and family to keep them occupied.
We know this is a challenging time and we hope implementing these strategies help you triage your RTO crash landing to-do list.
